Accessibility Policy

THOR – The House of Rose is committed to making our website accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We believe everyone deserves equal access to the information and services we offer, and we work continuously to meet current accessibility standards.

1. Our Commitment

We aim to conform to Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). We also comply with the requirements of Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as clarified by the Department of Justice Final Rule (April 2024), and the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination (NJLAD, N.J.S.A. 10:5-1 et seq.), which prohibits disability discrimination in places of public accommodation, including websites, and may provide broader remedies than federal law.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly test our site and address identified issues.

2. Standards and Guidelines

WCAG 2.1 Level AA requires that web content be:

  • Perceivable: information and user interface components must be presented in ways users can perceive (e.g., text alternatives for images, captions for video, adaptable layouts, sufficient color contrast).
  • Operable: user interface components and navigation must be operable (e.g., full keyboard accessibility, no content that causes seizures, adequate time to read and use content).
  • Understandable: information and operation of the user interface must be understandable (e.g., readable text, predictable navigation, input assistance).
  • Robust: content must be robust enough to be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of assistive technologies.

3. Measures We Take

To support accessibility, we have taken the following steps:

  • Conducting periodic accessibility audits using automated tools (such as axe, Lighthouse, or WAVE) and manual testing with screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver).
  • Providing text alternatives (alt text) for meaningful images.
  • Ensuring all functionality is accessible by keyboard without requiring a mouse.
  • Maintaining a minimum color contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text, per WCAG 2.1 Criterion 1.4.3.
  • Using clear, descriptive link text that makes sense out of context.
  • Structuring content with semantic HTML headings to support screen reader navigation.
  • Providing captions and transcripts for video content where feasible.
  • Using resizable text that does not lose functionality at 200% zoom.
  • Including skip navigation links to allow users to bypass repetitive menu content.
  • Ensuring all forms have associated labels and clear error messages.

4. Assistive Technology Compatibility

Our website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies (current versions at time of last audit):

  • Screen readers: NVDA with Chrome (Windows), JAWS with Chrome or Edge (Windows), VoiceOver with Safari (macOS and iOS), TalkBack (Android)
  • Magnification software: ZoomText, built-in OS magnification features
  • Voice recognition: Dragon NaturallySpeaking
  • Keyboard-only navigation

5. Known Limitations and Remediation

We are aware of the following accessibility issues currently under remediation:

  • Some SVG element may be missing from some graphics
  • Some links without an accessible name

If you encounter an issue not listed here, please let us know using the contact information in Section 7.

6. Third-Party Content

Our website may include content from third-party providers such as embedded videos, maps, social media widgets, or payment processors. We endeavor to select accessible third-party tools, but we cannot guarantee that all third-party content meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Where technically feasible, we work with our vendors to improve accessibility and will provide accessible alternatives when needed.

If you encounter a barrier on a third-party feature embedded in our site, please contact us and we will work to provide an alternative means of access.

7. Feedback and Contact

We value your feedback. If you experience difficulty accessing any content or functionality on our website, or if you encounter a barrier that prevents you from using a feature, please contact us:
